Our last episode of 2024 will be a return appearance for Shawna Presley Vercher. She joined us on November 14 to help us all process our emotions after the November elections. That was a special episode. The original plan was for her to join us in December to focus on “Healing after Trauma.” Dawn and I are both looking forward to this conversation.
Please join us Thursday November 14 at 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. PT. If you can’t watch the live show feel free to watch the recording.
Programming Note: We will return in 2025. Our next episode will be Thursday, January 9 with Carole Peters as our guest.

We’ll talk about healing from trauma on both a personal and a collective level. Here is the framework Shawna shared with us.
In addition to sharing our personal stories, we’ll discuss the collective trauma we have endured over the past few years, particularly from Covid.
The key questions: How do you build a fulfilling life after trauma? How do you come back from trauma?
Shawna is the author of A Fearless Voice and gave a TEDx talk that explored several of these themes. Her latest book, Celebrated will be published soon.
Dawn, of course, recently published a book about her journey of healing from trauma, The Blue Flower Curtain: A Story of a Woman's Determination to Become a Thriver.
My own healing from trauma started in earnest by co-hosting and producing Season Three of “Unspoken: Conversations with Candace,” a podcast hosted by our good friend Candace Sanchez. Candace dedicated Season Three of her podcast to male survivors of sexual abuse. People like me.
Dawn and I launched this twice a month show (the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month) in order to help reduce the stigma associated with mental health. Thank you for being part of our community.
We are proud to say that we will be continuing the show in 2025. If you are interested in being a guest on the show or know someone who might be interested, please let us know. We’re looking for people who would be willing to share their story, advocates and people who work in the field of mental health.
We hope you can watch the show and share your own thoughts in the comments.
“Shining Light on Shadows: A Candid Conversation About Mental Health” is produced by Digimentors on a pro bono basis.
